"It often happens that we treat pain as if it were the only real thing, or atleast the most real thing; when it comes round, everything before it, around it, and perhaps in front of it, tends to seem fleeting, delusional."

I swear to God this entire book was way too genius. Lol, I think the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is an ego problem and its because I'm too frustrated that I can't just store a lot of these lines into my head for future reference. :')

This is a book where Maggie Nelson reflects on a lot of things she's feeling through the colour blue. She talks about her feelings of shame, loss, love, regret and physical pain. The book mostly revolves around 2 key figures - The Prince of Blue (her ex boyfriend) and the Princess of Blue (her drug supplier?).

Nelson seems to be so well read because there are so many philosophical quotes that she's managed to quote out.

Halfway through the book I felt like there was a lot of information dump that maybe wasn't required? But maybe that's also because a lot of it went over my head. But the rest of it was so so beautiful. I just finished the book and oh my God did it make me feel. She used just the color blue for the entire book and I wasn't bored.
